Best Bakeries in Västerås, Sweden

Feb. 28, 2025

best bakeries västerås

Going to new bakeries and trying pastries is one of the best weekend activities and Sweden never disappoints on their quality of bakeries (or in Swedish bageries).

There so are many great bakeries with artisan pastries and breads. Here are my top 5 best bakeries in Västerås, Sweden that I would recommend to people based on taste, variety, and price.

Bageri April

In the center of downtown Västerås, Bageri April is my go-to bakery serving craft breads and works of art desserts. Not to mention, they have a delicious matcha lattes, sandwiches, and gelatos.

Some of the best baked goods they make are Swedish classics like the Kanelbullar (cinnamon or cardomom buns) and Semla. Although, every time you walk in, they will have some different items in their display cases, so it’s always fun to try whatever is new or seasonal.

They also have an emphasis on sustainability with ingredients used.

Koppolundens Bageri

Koppolundens is semi-hidden in the slew of brick buildings adjacent to the city center. I would say they are most known for their sourdough bread and the delicious things they do with it from sandwiches, flatbreads, avocado toast, to occasional sourdough pizza Fridays.

They also have amazing pastries, but they have more of a variety of savory items. Making it a great bakery for a more hearty breakfast, brunch or lunch.

Many of their ingredients are organic, raw, and simple.

Bread and Sweets by Jeannie

Located near Lake Malaren, Bread and Sweets by Jeannie is serving chocolates, breads, rolls, and the classic sweet treats like croissants and cinnamon buns.

They also have whole cakes that you can purchase for a special occasion. I would go here if I wanted a special or customized dessert that I couldn’t get many other places in Västerås.

Maria Therese – Ett litet bageri

Located in the city center and one of the smallest selections of baked goods, Maria Therese is still serving some great homemade items. They have things like pies, cannoli’s, cakes, coffee, and sandwiches. Note: they usually don’t have the classics like cinnamon buns or croissants.

Inside is a very homey and comfortable feel, although one of the best times to go is summer when you can sit outside and enjoy it all on their patio in the Swedish sun.

Master Jacobs Bakery & Confectionery

Another bakery located near Lake Malaren, Master Jacobs not only has baked goods, but they have a salad bar, sandwiches, and whole cakes for purchase.

I would personally chose any of the other 4 bakeries before Master Jacobs, but it’s still a good option if you are in that area and craving a little something sweet.

Those were my best bakeries in Västerås, Sweden – are there any you’d add to the list?
